'I first met Wendy when she arrived at my livery
stable near Maidenhead when she was looking to find somewhere for
Aristocrata when he arrived in England. I had heard about Paso Finos
and always wanted one and I was very excited to hear about the Breed
and to see Aristocrata arrive from the airport! I will never forget
my first ride on Aristocrata all those years ago. I could hardly
believe how responsive, willing and friendly he was. He did everything
you asked him to do. Best of all without a bit in his mouth - I
was so impressed that Wendy and I co-ventured to ship Cleopatra
del Juncal in from Tennessee as she is an important breeding mare
with some ancient bloodlines and she had (now my) Legado (colt)in
her belly.

Riding Aristocrata and
Cleopatra out near Maidenhead we literally stopped the traffic.
When riding in Windsor Park, we bought a carriage driving competition
to a halt when we rode past as they all wanted to know all about
the horses. From thereon it has been hectic, rewarding, tiring sometimes
and thrilling. I travelled to the USA twice to visit the National
Shows, meet the PFHA with Wendy, learn to ride and train and enjoy
some sun. I also enjoyed going to Germany to Doris Sperbers a few
times to her clinics and to the recent show in Kreuth. One of the
biggest thrills for me has been riding Ingeniero.
We have had so much fun together - at demos, shows but most of all
just us out on the common, largo-ing and cantering and just enjoying
the smooth smooth gait and such a responsive horse. Even out on
26 miles of open common Ingeniero goes best without a bit and stops
on a tiny command, often just on the voice. Its amazing; once you
have ridden a good Paso Fino you really don't want to ride anything
else! Foaling Legado was very moving and he is now backed and going
well under saddle. Imprinting him - as we do with all our horses
- really works; and I'm looking forward to more happy times both
here and in Spain. Hope to see you one day! Come and meet the horses
- you will be astonished!
